Invalifts ISO 14001 Environmental Standard Certification
Invalifts, based in Tamworth, is a leading supplier of disabled access lifts and operate throughout the UK. They have just become accredited under the British Standard ISO 14001 for the management of their environmental issues.
“We have been working very hard over the last couple of years to ensure that environmental issues are embedded within our systems, as many of our customers ask for evidence that we take our responsibilities towards the environment seriously and this is the perfect way to show our commitment,” said Craig Merry, Company Director.
To become accredited Invalifts had to assess the impact on the environment for each of their processes and working practices. Those impacts were then considered for reduction and control through changes to procedures and safety systems. Constant review is a major part of the controls to ensure that reduction opportunities are not missed.
“Invalifts supply and service lifts in many varied locations from domestic residences to ships, our systems have to cope with all the environmental conditions in those locations,” said Craig.
All businesses have to comply with environmental legislation but with clear direction and organising the manner in which they work, they can actually save money and help the environment at the same time. Joy Oliver at the company noted:
“We have seen some considerable savings in costs such as printer toner, paper, power, and haulage costs.”
