Lift Double for Battersea Arts Centre
Welcoming over 100,000 visitors every year, Battersea Arts Centre is the place people come to see a show, explore local history or simply relax in the beautiful old town hall.
Working with the main contractor, 8 Build Limited, Invalifts were contacted for some expert advice on the supply and installation of two lifts, one in the lower hall and the other in the gallery.
After working with the centre, both lifts were specified, and the popular MC2000 lift was chosen as the best solution. The MC2000 platform lift is supplied with its own self supporting shaft and only requires a 60mm pit, and as there are no requirements for supporting walls or machine rooms, the unit is extremely space efficient. The standard Part M sized platform (1120mm x 1480mm) has an overall footprint of just 1250mm x 1560mm.
Within the Arts Centre, the lower hall lift had an open through arrangement, where the doors are on opposite sides of the shaft. It had Umbra Grey solid doors with hidden door closers and the client supplied their own door handles. Travel distance was 4 metres between 2 floors.
The Gallery lift had an open front arrangement, where both doors are on the same side of the shaft. It had solid, beige grey doors with long vision panels situated in a Concrete grey lift shaft. Again it had hidden door closers and client supplied their own door handles. As a means of communication an autodialer was fitted to both lifts.
