HMS Alliance is onboard with Invalifts
HMS Alliance is the only remaining WW2 era British ocean going submarine. Serving from the 1940s – 1970s it is a huge monument to the submariners of WW2 and now part of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, Hampshire. Newly restored after a £7m refit the submarine required a solution to allow disabled access on board from dock level. Hoping to keep HMS Alliance in its original condition it looked likely that the lift would need to not only be externally installed but also independent from the submarine.
After careful consideration the InvaEuro proved to be the perfect solution; a high quality platform lift ideal for applications independent from a building. With minimal construction work required and complete in its own self supporting part glazed, part solid enclosure the InvaEuro ensured that the submarine’s authenticity was not hindered. Finished with a choice of 3 colours Invalifts were able to provide the InvaEuro in Goose Grey; effortlessly reflecting the colours of HMS Alliance. Combined with a simple 2 day installation the Invalifts Team were able to erect the lift with minimal disruption to the Museum.
