Platform Stairlifts for Straight and Curved Staircases
When stairs make accessible movement through a building difficult, the Ascendor PLG7 & PLK8 provide wheelchair access along the existing staircase. Both fold neatly away when parked and can be installed indoors or outside. The PLG7 handles straight flights, while the PLK8 tackles curves, intermediate landings, and more involved routes.

Choose the PLG7 for straight stairs or the PLK8 for curved and more complex routes. Both can be wall or stanchion mounted, with platform sizes and control options to suit different commercial settings and users.

Straight, Curved or Somewhere in Between?
A simple straight flight of stairs calls for the PLG7. If the route needs to negotiate curves, changes in direction, intermediate landings, or different levels, that’s where the PLK8 comes in.
There’s flexibility in how we approach the installation, too. Rails can be fixed directly to a suitable wall or supported on steel stanchions, giving us more options when working around an existing staircase. The upper stainless-steel rail can also serve as a handrail, subject to the relevant standards.
For more involved routes, the PLK8 can accommodate changes in rail elevation and multi-level landings, with parking positions planned at different levels where needed. That gives us more scope to configure the lift around the staircase you already have.

Keep the Stairs Clear When the Lift Isn’t Needed
Space matters, particularly on staircases that still need to work normally throughout the day. When parked, the Ascendor platform folds away to take up just 255–315 mm, helping to keep the staircase clear for other users.
Depending on the building, we can look at wall-mounted or steel-stanchion-supported rails, alongside different platform sizes, to find a configuration that works with the available space.

Suitable Inside and Out
The PLG7 and PLK8 aren’t limited to internal staircases. With an IP54 protection rating, they can also be specified for outdoor installation. That makes the range an option for stepped entrances and outdoor access routes as well as stairs inside the building.

Simple for People to Use Every Day
Accessible equipment needs to be straightforward to use day to day. The Ascendor keeps operation simple, with automated platform and safety-arm operation, onboard touch controls, and smooth start/stop movement. On curved routes, the lift automatically reduces its speed around bends.
A full-colour display shows the lift’s operating status and can provide fault information and possible remedies. There’s also automatic voice output, while wall-mounted and handheld control options give users different ways to call and operate the lift.
For people with walking difficulties who don’t need to travel in a wheelchair, an optional folding seat can also be specified.

Access Doesn’t Stop with a Power Cut
The PLG7 and PLK8 travel using a 24V battery drive, so a mains power failure doesn’t immediately take the platform stairlift out of service. The lift can continue operating between stops using its battery supply.
If power remains unavailable for an extended period, the system automatically switches off to conserve the batteries until charging can resume.

Finishes and Design Options
The standard Ascendor finish is RAL 9006 silver metallic, with other RAL colours available where the lift needs to work with an existing interior or architectural scheme. A stainless-steel finish is also available.
Further options include RGB LED lighting and personalised graphics for the platform contact tray. These give architects and project teams more scope to consider how the finished lift sits within the building.

Is the Ascendor PLG7 or PLK8 Right for Your Project?
Getting the right result starts with understanding the staircase, who needs to use it, and how the building works day to day. We can work through the route, available space, platform size, mounting method, and other site requirements before recommending the right Ascendor configuration.
Invalifts also provides ongoing servicing, maintenance, repairs, spare parts, and technical support after installation.
