Platform Lifts
A platform lift is a practical access solution designed to move people safely between levels where stairs present a barrier. We offer one of the most comprehensive platform lift ranges in the UK, covering indoor, outdoor, stair, cabin, and high-capacity applications.
Every solution is specified to meet Part M, the Equality Act, and the Machinery Directive, with clear guidance from survey through to installation and ongoing support.
Platform Lift Types We Offer

Indoor Vertical Platform Lifts
Indoor vertical platform lifts provide space-efficient access between floors. Designed for public and commercial interiors, these lifts are well-suited to retrofit projects where floor space, headroom, or structural changes are limited.
The Invalifts range includes the Motala 2000 Platform Lift and Motala 2000 Cabin Platform Lift for compact multi-floor access, the Aritco PublicLift Access for versatile outdoor public use, and the UnaPorte® Platform Step Lift for short indoor rises.
Each solution is specified to suit the building, the users and the level of daily demand.
Outdoor Platform Lifts
Outdoor platform lifts provide safe, weather-resistant access where steps or level changes restrict entry to a building. Designed for year-round outdoor use, these lifts offer a practical alternative to ramps while requiring minimal groundworks and disruption.
Invalifts supplies fully enclosed solutions such as the Aritco PublicLift Access (Outdoor), alongside compact options like the UnaPorte® Platform Step Lift for short rises. Each system is specified to suit entrance layouts, exposure levels and daily use demands, delivering reliable access without compromising the building’s appearance.

Platform Stairlifts
Platform stairlifts provide an effective access solution where vertical lifts cannot be installed. These inclined platform stairlifts travel along the staircase itself, allowing wheelchair users to move safely between levels without major structural alteration.
We can supply solutions including the Vimec V6 for straight staircases and the Vimec V6s for curved stairs or intermediate landings. Folding platforms keep stairways clear when not in use, making these lifts especially suitable for heritage, listed, and heavily used public buildings.
Step Lifts
Step lifts provide a compact solution for overcoming small level changes where ramps are impractical. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, they offer safe, step-free access with minimal building work.
The Invalifts range includes the UnaPorte® Platform Step Lift, designed for rises up to 2 metres without the need for a pit. Its space-efficient design, weather-resistant construction and battery-backed operation make it well suited to entrances, terraces, and split-level interiors.

Cabin Platform Lifts
Cabin platform lifts offer an enclosed, passenger-style experience while avoiding the space and structural demands of a traditional passenger lift. Designed for public and commercial buildings, they provide intuitive travel across multiple floors with clear, familiar controls.
The Invalifts range includes the Motala 2000 Cabin Platform Lift, Aritco 9000 Cabin Lift and the Vimec AR:IA Commercial Cabin Lift, both well suited to retrofit projects where disruption must be kept to a minimum. Their self-supporting designs and compact footprints make them a practical solution for delivering comfortable access in existing buildings.

High Capacity & Goods Platform Lifts
High capacity and goods-capable platform lifts are designed for environments where standard passenger lifts are not sufficient. These solutions support higher loads while maintaining safe access for people and equipment.
We supply options such as the ILS 1000kg High Capacity Platform Lift for demanding multi-floor use, alongside the Aritco PublicLift Access with Goods Option for dual passenger and light goods movement. Commonly specified for healthcare, retail, and commercial buildings, these lifts accommodate stretchers, hospital beds, powered wheelchairs, trolleys, and back-of-house traffic with ease.

FAQs
-
What is a platform lift?
A platform lift is a compact vertical lift designed to move people or goods between levels safely and efficiently. They’re commonly used to improve accessibility in homes, workplaces, and public buildings, offering step-free access without the space or structural demands of a traditional lift.
-
What’s the difference between a platform lift and a conventional passenger lift?
Platform lifts are typically slower, smaller, and designed for shorter travel distances. Passenger lifts are larger, faster, and suited to higher-rise buildings. Platform lifts are ideal for accessibility and low-rise use, while passenger lifts are built for heavier traffic and higher capacities.
-
Are platform lifts Part M compliant?
Yes, platform lifts are commonly specified to help meet Part M of the Building Regulations. When correctly designed and installed, they provide safe, accessible movement for wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility, making them a practical solution for compliance in many settings.
-
Can platform lifts be installed outdoors?
Platform lifts can be installed outdoors with the correct specification. Weather-rated components, protective enclosures, and suitable finishes ensure reliable performance year-round. Outdoor platform lifts are often used for entrances, terraces, or split-level access where indoor installation isn’t possible.
-
How much space do platform lifts need?
Platform lifts are designed to work in tight spaces. Many models require minimal footprint and don’t need a lift shaft or machine room. Space requirements depend on travel height and capacity, but they’re usually far more compact than traditional lift systems.
-
How long does installation take?
Installation times are relatively quick compared to other lift types. Many platform lifts can be installed within a few days once the site is prepared. Because they involve less structural work, disruption is kept to a minimum, helping projects stay on schedule.
-
What happens in a power cut?
Most platform lifts include emergency lowering or battery backup systems. In the event of a power cut, the lift can be safely lowered to the nearest level, allowing users to exit without risk. Safety systems are a core part of modern platform lift design.
-
Can platform lifts carry goods or beds?
Yes, many platform lifts can be specified to carry light goods, wheelchairs, hospital beds, or equipment, depending on load capacity. This makes them suitable not only for accessibility, but also for practical use in care homes, clinics, and commercial environments.
-
Do you provide servicing and maintenance?
Ongoing servicing and maintenance are essential for safety and reliability. Regular inspections help prevent downtime and extend the life of the lift. View our servicing packages to protect your investment →
