What is a Platform Lift?

Platform lifts provide a lifting platform to enable a wheelchair and disabled individual to travel either directly vertically or in an inclined manner.

Vertical platform lifts are either enclosed within a shaft, or for short travels it can be an open arrangement. All platform lifts come with controls that are suitable for disabled use and are at a level that can be reached by wheelchair users.

Inclined platform lifts are either straight units which are used for staircases where the platform can park directly at the top and bottom landings or curved units where there is a need for the platform to park around the corner from each landing.

Platform lifts are the solution to many situations where disabled access is required. Under the Disabled Discrimination Act (DDA) public buildings are required to provide suitable access for disabled individuals.

Wheelchair platform lifts can be found in many types of building including offices, churches, museums, shops, public buildings and private dwellings.
